Our Selection of February Favourites

Whether you're seeking a sweet indulgence, a fabulous feast, or an artistic event space, Birley Chocolate Shop, Bacchanalia and Mount Street Restaurants ‘Curious Rooms’ are guaranteed to exceed expectations. Allow us to guide you through what makes them our top picks for February.

Birley Chocolate Shop

The latest venture of Robin Birley and his Executive Pastry Chef, Vincent Zanardi, Birley Chocolate Shop certainly hits the sweet spot. Situated just next door to Birley Bakery which has quickly become a firm favourite for the locals of Chelsea Green since opening in 2023, Birley Chocolate Shop offers a luxurious selection of artisanal chocolates which are as beautiful as they are indulgent.

Crafted in their very own factory, just across the river Thames in Battersea and using only the finest globally sourced ingredients, the collection celebrates the expertise and heritage of artisans from diverse backgrounds. The shop showcases a variety of handcrafted confections which used to only be available to the members of the Private Club 5 Hertford Street, but very thankfully, are now available for general consumption. Delights include sticks, slabs, bars and covered fruits with unique flavour combinations such as White Chocolate Lemon Matcha, Blonde Chocolate Dulce & Pecan and Dark Chocolate Pistachio. Perfect for gifting or a personal pick-me-up, you won’t want to leave without a beautiful box of their stacked signature chocolate sticks.

Of course, we are all about the bells, whistles and ribbons at Parade, so it is music to our ears to hear that Birley Chocolate Shop offer entirely custom packaging with any of their bespoke orders – though you might not want to forgo their own stunning packaging which reflects the interiors and was inspired by an 18th-century Japanese screen seen by Robin Birley at auction.

Designed by arist Lizzi Porter in collaboration with JR designs, the interiors are almost as delicious as the confectionery. Swathes of claret wrap the walls adorned with beautiful birds and flowers whilst glowing silk lanterns hang suspended from the hand-painted ceiling, illuminating the delectable treats which are housed in glass cases below.

Whether you are popping in to enjoy the shop in person, or purchasing online, Birley’s Chocolates promise to satisfy every palate. With lent just around the corner, right now we can’t get enough!

Bacchanalia’s Roman Lunch

Having made it’s (brilliantly loud and decadent) grand entrance to London’s restaurant scene in November 2022, Bacchanalia on Mayfair’s Mount Street is not new, but it’s Sunday Lunch is still very much worth the buzz.

With colossal Damien Hurst sculptures adorning the walls, hand painted ceiling murals and a live opera singer, there is nothing minimalist about Bacchanalia! If though, you are looking for captivating fusion, flavoursome dishes, a fantastic atmosphere and potentially the friendliest waiters in Mayfair, then look no further.

For £58 per person, the Roman-inspired feasting lunch  includes a sharing meze platter, main course and dessert. Among the many highlights, the Seabream Sptiosta stands out, perfectly cooked and incredibly flavourful, but, for us, the true star of the menu is the Orange Pie with Clementine Sorbet. A citrus-infused masterpiece, you won’t want to share a single bite!

What truly elevates the Bacchanalia lunch experience though, is the service. From the moment you arrive, the team ensures that every need is met, offering a seamless, friendly, and highly personalized service. Each member of the team exudes warmth and attentiveness, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and genuine friendliness. The pacing of the meal was perfect, with each course arriving in a timely manner—never rushed, but always prompt, ensuring a seamless and relaxed dining experience.

For those looking to embrace the spectacle of Bacchanalia, we highly recommend sitting downstairs for the full experience!

Private Dining & Events at Mount Street Restaurant

We are always on the lookout for distinct private dining destinations to recommend to our clients, so as a member of the Artfarm family, it is no surprise that Mount Street Restaurant’s collection of carefully curated ‘Curious Rooms’ are currently at the top of our list.

Imagined by Studio Laplace, the four beautifully designed rooms on the upper floors of The Audley building, each have their own unique creative identity and individual story, giving guests an array of exceptional backdrops to pair with private gatherings, dinners or celebrations.

Dazzling in Venetian design, the Italian Rooms are perfect for more intimate events, featuring a private dining room for up to ten guests and a separate bar with lounge seating which can be booked for pre or post dinner drinks. With vivid mustard walls, soft silk salmon chairs and Italian Verde Alpi green marble lining the floors and countertops, the Italian Room & Italian Bar convey the timeless elegance of Venetian Palazzos and include Italian pieces such as Chirico’s ‘La Muse’ (1974).

In contrast to the rich opulence of the Italian Rooms, the Swiss Room, also located on the second floor is a cerulean celebration of Switzerland’s art and design heritage. Featuring an eye-catching stained sycamore floor by Ian Harper and decorated by Swiss paintings and artworks such as a sculpture by Hans Josephsohn (1920-2012), up to fourteen guests can enjoy a seated dinner privately or hire the space in conjunction with the Italian Rooms.

We are dying to visit Mount Street’s sister property The Fife Arms in the Scottish Highlands and immerse ourselves in its 2 Michelin Key luxury. Until then, an evening beneath the spectacular (sustainably sourced) antler chandelier in the Scottish Room, will have to keep us satisfied! As the largest of the private rooms available, the Scottish Room is steeped in Highland history and seats up to twenty-six guests on its custom made nine metre table which is hand carved in Scottish Oak by joinery artist Kelvin Murray, who also carved the bespoke dining chairs and glass fronted cabinet.  Situated on the third floor, this dark and dramatic room is adorned with deep red tartans and Jacobean artifacts such as a collection of swords and taxidermy from The Fife Arm’s collection. Whether you need a location for next year’s Burns Night celebrations or simply want an unforgettable supper party – the Scottish Room will ensure an unforgettable occasion.

Finally, at the very top of The Audley, beneath the turret, the Games Room sits like a hidden gem. With deep red walls, plush velvet sofas, ox-blood leather stools and warm bulbs glowing from beneath rows of scarlet fringed pendants, this ever-so seductive space is designed for intimate evening gatherings that roll late into the night. With a comfortable lounge area, card table and private bar, the Games Room can seat up to twenty guests for a private drinks reception.

These reviews are Parade’s honest opinion based on our first-hand experiences, we are not in collaboration with any of the organisations
